Empowerment of 1000 armed Avalokiteshvara

The Portuguese Festival of Kadampa Buddhism is a national event that occurs every year in different places throughout the country. It provides an opportunity in which people from all over the world can meet, listen to the teachings of Buddha, meditate and share their experiences with other practitioners.

The event is open to everyone regardless of their level of experience and knowledge of Buddhism.

The Teachings

The subject of the Festival will be wisdom and compassion. The development of these two minds is the essence of the Buddhist spiritual path. It is said that, in the same way that a bird needs two wings to fly, so too do we need the wings of wisdom and compassion if we are to fly to the awakened state of enlightenment.

The Empowerment

After giving us teachings on wisdom and compassion, Guen Khyenrab will grant the empowerment of 1000 armed Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. Through getting close to Avalokiteshvara with a mind of faith, the power of our compassion and wisdom will naturally grow
